According to reports, Bob Dylan declined the chance to perform and present an award at Sunday’s Academy Awards.
According to reports, the singer of “Like a Rolling Stone” received an invitation to the gala since his biopic, A Complete Unknown, was nominated for eight prizes, including Best Picture. The Hollywood Reporter claims that the reticent artist turned down the chance.
Mick Jagger’s assertion that Dylan was the first person selected to give the Best Original Song award is supported by the report.

“As much as I enjoy giving this award out, I wasn’t the first choice to give this award out,” the 81-year-old Rolling Stones rocker remarked of being asked to present the Best Original Song award tonight. “Bob Dylan was the producer’s choice. Bob didn’t want to do it because, well, of course, he had the best songs this year in the film A Complete Unknown. “You ought to find someone younger,” Bob advised. “All right, I’m younger,” I said. So here I am.
During his opening speech, Oscars host Conan O’Brien also made a joke about Dylan, who is eighty-three.

Timothée Chalamet had to learn how to sing in order to portray Bob Dylan. The comedian said, “The singing was so good that he almost lost the part.” “Dylan wanted to be here tonight, but not that badly.”

Chalamet lost to Adrien Brody for The Brutalist, despite being nominated for Best Actor for his performance as Dylan in A Complete Unknown. Despite receiving eight nominations, James Mangold’s film failed to win any awards.
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande of Wicked performed first, followed by a Quincy Jones tribute by Queen Latifah, a James Bond tribute medley by RAYE, and Lisa and Doja Cat from BLACKPINK.
