Not just the Oscar winners were taken aback on Sunday night.
According to the USGS, a preliminary 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck the North Hollywood region at approximately 10:13 p.m. PT, as A-list actors, directors, and producers flocked to Los Angeles for Hollywood’s biggest night.
The earthquake was felt throughout Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, even though the most of the 2025 Oscars action was concentrated in the heart of Hollywood, along the renowned Hollywood Boulevard, which is home to the Dolby Theatre. The majority of celebrities are still attending afterparties despite the earthquake that happened just hours after the Oscars concluded.

Chappell Roan was performing onstage at the 33rd Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party when the earthquake struck, according to a source who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter. However, nobody inside seemed to notice the trembling. On the red carpet at the Governors Ball, the exclusive gala held following the Academy Awards, another source claimed that those present could feel the tremor.

According to KABC, there were no early reports of serious injuries or damage.
