J Cole released his brand-new song, “Port Antonio,” last night, and it has since generated a lot of discussion on social media.
He talks about Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s well-known spat in the song, which he notably bowed out of after releasing “7 Minute Drill.” At Dreamville Fest in April, he apologized for the Kendrick diss tune. After seeing how Drake and Kendrick’s lyrical feud unfolded, many agreed that Cole made the right decision, despite first receiving a lot of criticism for it.
In “Port Antonio,” J Cole basically asserts that he was more terrified of losing a friend than a fight and that he withdrew from the dispute because his rivals sought influence. “I wouldn’t have lost a battle, dawg, I woulda lost a bro,” he says. “For what purpose would I have gained an enemy? Just to get some props from people who have no idea what I’ve been aiming for?”
Listeners are divided thus far. J Cole is being accused of rewriting history, even though many people still believe that he did the right thing by rising above. Others are just calling him cheesy for bringing up a topic that largely died months ago.
“The boy apologized and is attempting to retract it. On Twitter/X, a user says, “My n***a you bowed out and rode your bike for six months dodging smoke.’ I coulda won the battle.” “Missing messages. Despite his desire to be the bigger man, J. Cole remains inconsistent. After avoiding conflict out of friendship, he believes he can outrap anyone. Now, he maintains he could have won but didn’t want to lose a buddy. Another contends, “You can’t have it both ways, and that’s what put him in this position.”
