Tyler, the Creator regrets criticizing Eminem’s 2010 album Recovery.
The rapper has stated that he “feels so bad” for publicly criticizing the album, which centered on Eminem’s sobriety following a prescription drug addiction. He stated on Maverick Carter’s Mavericks show on Wednesday how the 2023 Netflix miniseries Painkiller helped him comprehend Eminem’s point of view.
“When (Recovery) came out I fking hated it,” remarked Tyler. “Publicly was like, ‘This stit is wack.'” I didn’t like it, and after watching (Painkiller), I felt so bad about those tweets and things like that because, from his perspective, someone like me publicly saying that stuff and him getting off drugs and clean and getting to a point in life where that’s behind him and me implying, ‘Nah, this s**t is wack.'”

He added, “He probably thought I was attacking him. I believed I was simply saying, ‘I don’t like the music.’ He was in a different stage of his life and probably thought I was criticizing him. Now I feel terrible for saying those things since my perspective was so limited.
As a lifelong fan of the Without Me hitmaker, the hip-hop artist stated that he did not enjoy Recovery musically since it was more introspective and emotional than his 2002 album The Eminem Show.

“I felt so terrible about some of the things I said about that Recovery album because I realized that was a big step and meant a lot to him and my fking stupid ass is like, ‘I wanna hear the same song and dance and I loved The Eminem Show,'” he told me. “But he isn’t there anymore. I felt horrible. If I ever see him, I’d like to tell him that in person.
Eminem later took aim at Tyler in his 2018 song Fall, calling him a “f**got”. The Real Slim Shady singer later apologized and claimed that he went “too far” and “hurt” many other individuals by using the term.
