If you’ve seen any cinematic adaptations of Stephen King’s writings, you’ll understand that they’re not for the faint of heart.
From IT and Pet Sematary to The Boogeyman and Children of the Corn, it’s safe to say that these films are not suitable for viewing before bedtime.
Netflix has recently purchased the rights to revamp many of the original films based on King’s novels, as well as develop some new ones.
Gerald’s Game, starring Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood, is one of the films developed just for the streaming service.

It is also directed by Mike Flanagan, an accomplished horror film filmmaker. He’s most known for films like The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep, The Midnight Club, and Midnight Mass.
The movie was released in 2017 and its synopsis reads: “A woman accidentally kills her husband during foreplay.” They had drove to an isolated location in an attempt to restart their deteriorating romance. She quickly goes delirious after being handcuffed to the bed.
While Gerald’s Game was launched several years ago, a Netflix fan recently sought for feedback on it in the Netflix Bangers Facebook group.

One member said, “Good movie, even better book!”.
“Loved it – seen it three times lol,” said another. “Can be uncomfortable in certain scenes but worth a watch.”
“Well, it’s Stephen King!!!! “It’s good!” exclaimed a third.
Someone else warned: “Be careful.” The big climactic sequence made me feel ill to my stomach. I had to take a break before I could continue viewing it.”
Another person characterized it as ‘terrifying’.
Another individual said they nearly fell out while watching Gerald’s Game, echoing similar comments from when it was released in 2017.

The X user wrote: “Okay, I almost passed out. #GeraldsGame has been paused for ten minutes. “A film has never affected me like that before.”
In a follow-up tweet, they wrote, “Can’t believe it affected me like it did.” I promise I have seen worse. But I actually felt faint. I had to run to the restroom and everything.”
Despite its incredibly graphic sequences, the King favorite has a very impressive 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
One critic liked Gerald’s Game so much that he claimed the film was better than the book.
“There are few movies that manage to outdo their source material,” they wrote on the review website. “There are few films that are based on a Stephen King novel and still manage to outperform the source material. Gerald’s Game, a Netflix original film, is one such movie.”
