Justin Bieber has spoken out after ‘turning down’ the opportunity to sing alongside Usher during the Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday.

While the major focus of the Super Bowl is supposed to be on the field of play, the halftime performance is undeniably important.

Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Justin Timberlake have already headlined the performance, and this year it was Usher’s turn to do so.

The 45-year-old appeared to do well for himself during an epic Super Bowl performance dubbed ‘one of the best ever’.

Usher was accompanied by Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri, H.E.R, Lil Jon, and Ludacris, yet one face was noticeably absent, according to fans.

Many were upset and perplexed when Justin Bieber did not join him on stage in Las Vegas.

Even more so because Bieber was observed sitting in the audience with wife Hailey, watching the game and performances from a distance.

Usher was on Bieber’s 2010 album ‘Somebody to Love’, so with the ‘Baby’ singer in attendance, many saw Super Bowl 2024 as the ideal chance for the two to reconcile.

“Missed opportunity for Justin Bieber to come out,” one X user inquired.

“Where is Justin Bieber?” another said.

According to TMZ, Usher apparently contacted Bieber to ask him to perform at the halftime performance.

According to music industry sources, Usher made many attempts to get Bieber to collaborate with him.

But Bieber apparently declined the proposal, though the insider clarified that it was not due to any ‘bad blood’ between the music stars.

“Justin just wasn’t up for it – he just wasn’t feeling it,” they went on to say.

While he may not have been involved, Bieber seemed to be quite proud of his longtime mentor.

In a lovely Instagram message, Bieber said, “LOVE YOU MY BROTHER.

“No one can sing and dance like you do.

“I love you from the bottom of my heart.

“Brought the letter ‘A’ to the world.

“ONLY YOU BABYYYYYY 😘.”

After being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome last year, the ‘Love Yourself’ hitmaker took a break from live concerts and tours.

The Mayo Clinic describes the illness as “occurring when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears.”

According to the article: “In addition to the painful shingles rash, Ramsay Hunt syndrome can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear.”
