Hip-hop icons J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar are among the rappers on Busta Rhymes’ list of all-time favorites.
The Brooklyn native praised the two musicians during an interview on Amazon Music’s +44 Podcast, saying that they’re moving up his list of all-time rappers.
Regarding Cole and Kendrick, Busta remarked, “I feel like there are some new guys that are starting to go into that list.” “I’m still torn between J. Cole and Kendrick, but we’re almost there.” The legendary rapper stated that although Kendrick is a better lyricist than Cole, he is still “torn” when it comes to picking between the two that make his top five.

“I’m referring to only bars! Once again, I can’t decide between Cole and Kendrick, but if Kendrick started acting like Cole is acting, the conversation would be quite different. Though he acknowledges that both rappers are being considered, he adds they haven’t yet cemented their positions in that group—which is made up of a mixture of peers, pioneers, and collaborators.

Even yet, I didn’t rank any of the two in fourth place,” he remarked. “They are really beginning to earn their right to passage and to be in my opinion among the top five greatest of all time,” I said, hinting that it would be a new guy.
Busta claims that his top five artists are Eminem, Nas, Rakim, and Nas, in no particular order. “The best rapper of all time? He answered, “I don’t think I have one.” I’d say five. Rakim. I know some people may disagree, but Nas. My choice is Eminem. The Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z were his final two choices for the list, though he acknowledged that the latter choice may be a little biased considering his comparatively small repertoire.

“I would definitely say JAY-Z,” he said. I have a predisposition towards Biggie. I’m predisposed towards Biggie because I believe that he has accomplished more in two albums than anyone else has, even though they have all had far longer opportunities to work than he has. That, I believe, is my list.
