Tyler Perry Criticizes The Canceled BET Network Sale And Says He Would Not Bid Again In The Future

Tyler Perry was candid about Paramount’s cancelled sale of the BET Network earlier this year. “I was disappointed for a variety of reasons.”

In many respects, the way it happened was insulting. “Don’t try to get me to pay for something that isn’t even worth what it is,” Perry stated at a recent equality meeting in Atlanta. Furthermore, he stated that if Paramount attempted to sell the network in the future, he would not be interested. “No. May God bless them. I’m still collaborating with them. “I wish them all the best,” he said.

Perry was a key figure for the network earlier this year. “I am very interested in taking as much of it as I possibly can,” Perry stated in April. Byron Allen and Diddy were among others who expressed an interest. However, over the summer, Paramount abruptly canceled the transaction, sparking suspicion over whether the network was ever genuinely for sale. As Perry stated, he expects to continue working with its parent network, Paramount, for the time being.

However, elsewhere in the media, LeBron James is rumored to be working with the Obamas. LeBron James and Peyton Manning are reportedly in negotiations with the Obamas about creating a new sports docuseries. The show will reportedly be an NBA version of Netflix’s Quarterback, which followed three quarterbacks in a normal “fly on the wall” approach. Manning’s production business assisted in the production of the Netflix show, and the Hall of Famer is now interested in doing the same for the NBA. The sitcom is purportedly being made for Netflix, according to Front Office Sports.

The show is still in its early phases of development and will most likely not begin production until the 2024 NBA offseason. At the very least, it’s an interesting prospect to hear about. It will also be fascinating to watch how the series format is different in the NBA against the NFL.
