Ryan Gosling has dismissed the notion that he is “too old” to play Ken in “Barbie.”

In the upcoming live-action film based on the Mattel doll, the 42-year-old Hollywood star plays the normal Ken alongside Margot Robbie as “steroptypical” Barbie.

And the ‘Drive’ star argues that no one “cared” about Ken before the guy playing him was revealed, and that his tale needs to be shared.

“I would say, you know, if people don’t want to play with my Ken, there are many other Kens to play with,” he told GQ.

“It’s amusing, this clutching-your-pearls idea of, like, #notmyken. Did you ever consider Ken before this? And everyone was fine with his having a job that pays nothing. But then it’s like, ‘No, we’ve cared for Ken the entire time.’

“You did not. You’ve never done it. You were unconcerned. Barbie has never f* Ken. That’s exactly the point. If you ever cared about Ken, you’d realize that nobody cared about Ken. As a result, your hypocrisy has been revealed. That is why his tale needs to be told.

“I’m concerned about this guy now.” I act as his representation. ‘Ken was unable to accept this honor, so I’m here to accept it on his behalf.'”

His little kids playing with a Ken doll convinced him that this was a story that needed to be told.

“I did see him, like, face down in the mud outside one day, next to a squished lemon, and it was like, ‘This guy’s story does need to be told,’ you know?” Ryan continued.

The film, which will be released in theaters on July 21, depicts different incarnations of Barbie and Ken.
