The horrific moment when Jeremy Renner intervened to save his uncle from a snowplow accident is still fresh in his nephew’s memory.
Renner’s nephew claims that he “could just perfectly see” Renner, 52, “in a pool of blood coming from his head” following the event in which Renner risked his life for his family member, as part of the actor’s upcoming interview with Diane Sawyer.
The actor’s nephew said, obviously and audibly distressed, “And I ran up to him… you know, I did not think he was alive.”
Renner insisted, though, to 77-year-old Sawyer that he would “do it again” in a heartbeat.
“Would you repeat it?” He said, “Yeah, I would do it again. ‘Cause [the snowplow] was going right at my nephew,” in response to her disbelieving question.
Renner also discussed what happened that day and how his life has been since with Sawyer as part of the sneak peek at his first interview after the tragedy.
When questioned about his memories of the discomfort, Renner responded, “Oh, all of it. I was awake during the entire time.
Following a study of his injuries, which included more than 30 broken bones, Sawyer questioned him about the time he signed “I am sorry” to his family because he was unable to talk as a result of the tragedy.
After a brief pause, the Hawkeye actor reacted, “Yeah,” turning away visibly moved.
However, he “chose to survive,” as Renner remarked, adding, “You are not going to kill me. No way.”
According to a report on the event released by Nevada authorities in January, Renner was trying to stop a snowplow from running over his nephew when it started to slide and crushed the actor.
Renner required many operations as a result of the New Year’s Day accident, which left him with “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” and broke more than 30 bones.
His snowplow, which is estimated to weigh at least 14,330 pounds, drove over him as he was assisting a family member with pulling a “stuck” car out of the snow, leaving him initially in “critical but stable condition.”
In this event, Renner said, “I have lost a lot of flesh and bone, but I have been refueled and refilled with love and titanium.” Renner said this to Sawyer.

When asked if he still sees “the same face” in the mirror as he did before the accident, Renner grinned and replied, “No, I see a lucky man.”
