The title of the upcoming slasher movie Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’s sequel, Winnie-the-Pooh 2, has been officially revealed. In Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, the beloved characters Pooh and Piglet are reimagined as slasher villains who terrorize a group of friends renting a cabin in the Hundred Acre Wood.

A darker version of Winnie-the-Pooh serves as the foundation of the narrative, with Pooh and Piglet being forced to devour Eeyore after Christopher Robin stops paying them visits and bringing them food. The US release of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey is scheduled for February 15 and is currently playing in Mexican theaters.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’s official Twitter page revealed that a sequel, titled Winnie-the-Pooh 2, is now in development despite having only been released in one country thus far.

While Winnie-the-Pooh 2’s plot has not yet been revealed, it is safe to assume that Pooh and Piglet will return as slasher villains and continue to murder individuals who enter the Hundred Acre Wood where they live. With a tagline like “More blood. More honey,” it sounds like the sequel will up the slasher terror Pooh inflicts on the movie’s human subject matter.

Given the disturbing premise of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, it’s hardly surprising that a sequel has already been approved. It is both horrifying and a shift from the loving personalities they typically are to imagine beloved children’s books and cartoon characters, like Pooh and Piglet, murdering children in the woods. However, since that A.A. Milne’s original Winnie-the-Pooh figure is in the public domain, authors and directors like Rhys Frake-Waterfield are able to transform Winnie-the-Pooh characters into gruesome slasher villains without breaking the law.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey has gotten media attention for these horror themes because of how startling it is for Pooh and Piglet to be frightening teenagers. Even more unanticipated slaughter is probably going to enhance the movie because the movie will also examine how Pooh and Piglet deal with Christopher Robbin after he returns to the Hundred Acre Wood.

It’s not surprising that a sequel is already in the works because a premise like this is particularly attractive to individuals who like the idea and may be turned off by it. Since no other characters in the first movie had significant parts, it seems likely that Winnie-the-Pooh 2 will feature even more horrifying iterations of Pooh’s companions.

By creating a world where Pooh and Piglet are the villains, Frake-Waterfield turns the original Winnie-the-Pooh story on its head, doing so to create a different type of film with familiar characters. While it’s unclear yet whether the idea will pay off or not, the fact that the film has remained talked about in horror circles in the months leading up to its release means its success is viable. Twisting a beloved, heartwarming icon into something terrifying may also help add a new perspective on Pooh into the public consciousness. Now that a sequel to Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey is officially in the works, there’s no telling just how deep the horror of the Hundred Acre Wood will go.
