It’s no secret that there are a ton of shared universes now being used in comic book movies, which are widely available.
As a result, many theories and fan castings exist regarding the casting of particular actors as heroes or villains. The name Daniel Radcliffe is frequently used to refer to numerous heroes, and the famed Harry Potter actor recently opened up about unintentionally fueling the Wolverine speculations.
Marvel fans have been impatiently waiting for the X-Men to enter the shared Marvel universe since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox and its assets. Fans have been wondering who would take over as Wolverine before it was revealed that Hugh Jackman would return for Deadpool 3. Daniel Radcliffe has been a well-liked pick in part because of his diminutive stature (which would be accurate to the comics). In a recent interview with GQ, the Lost City actor clarified matters by saying:
It’s purely a press tour rumor; I say something, and then occasionally I get bored of answering that way, so I say something different, and that sets it off again. I should just never open my mouth.
That’s all there is to it. It appears that Daniel Radcliffe is well aware of the rumors floating around the internet that he would portray Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even so, occasionally he can’t help but say something that ignites social media, especially after repeatedly responding to the same question during a protracted and exhausting press tour. Who can blame him, though?
The superhero genre is very popular right now in both the TV and movie industries. As additional cinematic universes are developed by the various film studios, places like the MCU and DCEU are showing no signs of stopping down. Prior to Hugh Jackman’s return to the role of Wolverine, speculation regarding the next actor to don the claws was ongoing. We’ll just have to wait and watch whether inquiries about Daniel Radcliffe drop-down with this information.
Although Kevin Feige’s plans for the X-Men in the MCU are still unknown, mutants have been mentioned in passing throughout Phase Four. This covers Kamala’s development as a superhero in Ms. Marvel and Patrick Stewart’s little part in Doctor Strange 2. However, with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine returning in Deadpool 3, it could be intriguing to see how things heat up with the much-awaited Ryan Reynolds threequel.
While some of the fault for the Wolverine rumors falls on Daniel Radcliffe, perhaps they will calm down a little in the aftermath of the Deadpool 3 news. Though it’s unlikely that Hugh Jackman will stick around for the long haul in the MCU, perhaps a different actor will take on the role in the future. Time will only tell.
The movie Weird: The Al Yankovic Story starring Daniel Radcliffe will debut on the Roku channel on November 4th (and reviews have been positive).
