The 22nd annual BET Awards, which recognize the works in music, cinema, television, and sports that have had the greatest cultural effect in the previous year, did not disappoint.

High-profile individuals from every area of the entertainment industry were presented with awards at the ceremony, which was held on Sunday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and was hosted by Taraji P. Henson. The ceremony also featured standout performances by Lizzo, Chlöe, Jack Harlow, and others.

Doja Cat took the top spot among nominees for the BET Awards 2022 with nominations in six categories for her Planet Her album and accompanying singles. Drake, honored for his efforts on the Certified Lover Boy album from last year, and Ari Lennox, nominated for their respective singles “Pressure” and “Unloyal” with Summer Walker, are closely behind with four nominations each.

Chlöe, Baby Keem, and Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson) were among the other top nominations for the next award. Lennox, 31, and Drake, 35, are closely followed by Paak, Future, H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Baby, Mary J. Blige, and Tems, who each have three nominations.

The Lifetime Achievement Award, which has previously gone to people like Whitney Houston, Prince, and others, was also given to Sean “Diddy” Combs. According to a news release, the honor is intended to recognize people “who have not only greatly influenced society over the course of their extended careers, but who have also been transformative leaders that constantly inspire generations by setting a true standard of greatness.”
