A mother of three survived a terrible bear attack in which the animal concealed herself under leaves so it could later eat her.
In 2015, Natalya Pasternak and her dog, along with her 80-year-old friend Valentina Gorodetskaya, went to the woods to gather birch sap when they came across the animal in Russia.
The 55-year-old described how she initially considered running away, but she hesitated as the bear approached her close to their home in Tynda, in the Amur region of Siberia, about 120 miles north of China, because she was afraid the bear would murder her mate.
She told The Siberian Times: “I tried to get away when I noticed the bear. Then I paused as I thought of my friend. The predator attacked me at that very moment.

Just before it attacked the mother and grandmother, her pet barked, warning the other women of the danger.
She went on: “I tried to assault the beast with something I was using to gather birch sap when he began to tear my legs off.
“Then it occurred to me in a flash: ‘I will be permanently incapacitated if the bear removes my legs. “I would rather die than burden my children.”
The former baker continued to talk about her difficulties with the bear, stating that she attempted to hit its eyes and throat but was unable to do so because of its strength.
Her Gorodetskaya bravely started hitting the bear herself, refusing to let her advanced age deter her from standing up for herself.
In addition, Valentina was praying and striking the bear with a stick. The bear shifted to her and struck her on the back for a while. Then it began to pull me apart once more,” Pasternak clarified.

“Valentina escaped and, despite her age, she made it to a water cleaning facility and called the emergency services.”
The beast probably thought Pasternak was dead and started burying her when Gorodetskaya left.
“I didn’t lose my mind in spite of this nightmare. I was shouting a prayer out, and it helped,” the postal worker added.
Pasternak was partially buried beneath a heap of leaves when hunter Sergei Ivanov arrived on the scene and shot the animal, which he said had been “guarding” Pasternak.
“I noticed a woman who was nearly completely buried. She was still alive and breathing, but only one arm and her bloodied face were visible,” Ivanov stated.
“‘Did you kill the bear?’ she questioned. “Dig me out,” she then stated.
Pasternak was hospitalized during the experience in 2015, but Gorodetskaya was able to flee without the need for medical treatment.
When she said, “I’m feeling well now and they’re helping me a lot in the hospital,”
“With my daughter’s assistance, I can now get to my feet and walk a short distance.
“It’s terrible to imagine what could have happened if it wasn’t for Valentina.”
