Amazon Prime Video has a new AI-generated tool that can recap TV shows for you—and it’s claimed to be “spoiler-free”.
The streaming service’s “X-Ray Recaps,” which were announced on Monday, employ Amazon’s generative AI platform Bedrock to get you caught up on episodes, whether it’s a full season, an episode, or even sections of an episode. According to the business, these summaries will highlight crucial narrative points, twists, and cliffhangers without spoilers and are “personalized down to the exact minute of where you are watching.”
For example, if you wanted to catch up on what happened in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power or The Wheel of Time (both of which have a lot of events), you could just open the Recap and select specific episodes, the prior season, or the most recent season so far. Or, we have you covered.

The Recaps, which are still in development, are an extension of Prime Video’s existing “X-Ray” function, which displays information about the show or film you’re viewing when you pause it, such as cast details, production facts, music, and statistics (if you’re watching sports). The new Recaps can be found within the X-Ray feature or by selecting “Details” on a Prime Video title.
Recaps are driven by Bedrock, Amazon’s generative AI platform that operates on both AWS and custom AI models trained on Amazon SageMaker, a cloud-based machine learning platform.
According to Amazon, “X-Ray Recaps analyzes various video segments, along with subtitles or dialogue, to generate detailed descriptions of key events, places, times, and conversations.” Guardrails are also used to generate spoiler-free and short descriptions.”
