Drake’s viral lyrical fight with Kendrick Lamar has undoubtedly been tough for the Toronto rapper to overcome. According to 50 Cent, that is not impossible.

During a recent interview with Billboard, the hitmaker expressed his thoughts on the matter and remembered some advise he provided to Drake earlier this year.

“Drake is in that position right now,” he says. “They’re trying to resist the music because he’s released some fantastic stuff. I say a lot of stuff on social media, and people get irritated because they think, ‘Ahh, I’m immediately meant to be on Kendrick’s side because of my affiliation with Dre.’ And I adore Kendrick, but I’ll tell you something—I didn’t see where what [Drake] did was wrong at any time.”

“They’re telling Drake, ‘Oh you wack, you finished.'” I said, ‘Nah, come on.’ That is the system attempting to create some form of resistance, which stems from consistency. When you win consecutively, a segment of the hip-hop audience wants you gone. “I started to feel the resistance for the Curtis album,” 50 Cent said. “I told him that it wasn’t him… I’m listening from the periphery, and it’s not you. Don’t think like that for a second. On some serious st, I said, “They said you lost, OK.” So, what have you lost? What did he lose if he made $300 million on his previous tour? “You didn’t lose anything, dude. “If that’s the case, keep your creative energy focused and continue to create. If you slow down because you feel, ‘What the fk?’ The resistance will lead you to believe that your material is poor quality. Then you have to find out how to keep pushing and creating—because that’s how it feels to you right now. That s**t was great for hip hop. It accelerated their ability to produce high-quality content,” he noted.
