According to recent reports, the D-O-double-G is making a lot of money at the Olympics. But how much does Snoop Dogg make as an Olympic promoter? Here’s the most recent updates.
On Sunday, venture entrepreneur Henry L. McNamara, who is attending the Olympics in Paris, tweeted a minor tidbit he overheard from an NBC executive. “I sat next to an NBC executive at dinner, and he claimed Snoop is paid $500k per day plus expenses to be here promoting the Olympics. From gin and juice to a few million dollars to be a celebrity at the Olympics—what a world.
While these figures have not been confirmed, they would not be shocking given how much NBC spent to be the sole Olympic broadcaster in the United States. In 2011, NBC agreed to a $4.38 billion contract with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to broadcast the games until 2020, making it the most expensive television rights agreement in Olympic history. In 2014, NBC trumped that offer with a $7.75 billion contract extension to show the Olympics until 2032.

With Snoop on board this year, NBC has already set a record for commercial review and audience. Through five days, beginning with the opening ceremony, NBC averaged 34 million people per day viewing Olympic coverage, a 19 million increase over the Tokyo Olympics. NBC announces over $1.25 billion in advertising sales (a record for Olympic television) and claims there is still plenty of time to sell.

According to NBC, the event’s celebrity focus has helped boost attendance, which includes Snoop Dogg. “[NBC] stands by its decision to make the Olympics more celebrity-focused, claiming it generates social media interest that benefits their telecasts. Cameras routinely capture Hollywood and sports personalities cheering on Olympic athletes from the stands,” according to the Associated Press.
“We’ve been pleasantly surprised by [Snoop Dogg’s] popularity, but you never underestimate Snoop Dogg,” says Molly Solomon, the Olympics’ executive producer. “He’s this wonderful mix of swagger and positivity.”
Snoop Dogg reconnected with his ex-convict bestie Martha Stewart at an equestrian team dressage event, which sparked a lot of curiosity online. The two sat in the front row dressed in full equestrian regalia, including matching riding helmets, show coats, jodhpurs, and high boots. Martha Stewart tells Today that Snoop requested her to attend the equestrian event with him.
“Snoop called me and he knows I love horses,” she tells me. “He’s a little fearful of horses.” During the program, Snoop and Martha fed carrots to the horses, with Snoop noting, “This is the first time I’ve ever been this close to a horse.”
