Lisa Kudrow isn’t looking back kindly on her entire “Friends” experience, revealing the one thing that bothered her the most during the show’s taping.
The actress was on Conan O’Brien’s podcast when she explained a revelation made by her “Friends” co-star, Jennifer Aniston, that she had never been a fan of the live studio audience.
As Lisa put it, the crowd would laugh for too long at a joke, even if it wasn’t particularly hilarious. As a performer, this irritated LK because she felt it was not an honest response to what she and her co-stars — Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer — were doing on the sound stage.
She added… “It’s like, ‘Now you’re simply ruining the timing of the rest of the show.'” Sometimes I would just look out and say, ‘Come on’ if they had been laughing for too long. “Very angry.”
Watch the video; Lisa also dug back on her viewpoint, arguing that a TV show taping is not the same as a theatrical play. According to the actress, the show’s warm-up act would even caution the “Friends” audience not to laugh too much… given that the show had already taken hours to film.
Lisa’s memories from the show aren’t all bad. In fact, she says she’s finally watching “Friends” without feeling embarrassed… as a tribute to Matthew, who died in October 2023.
