If nothing else, opinions on Tesla’s impending Cybertruck are definitely mixed.
Not least of all the elements is the car’s unique design, which, depending on who you ask, either looks futuristic or like it would be offended by the mere presence of a human being.
Regardless, the vehicle has undoubtedly drawn interest from a variety of sources, including auto safety experts who express worry about the potential risks the Cybertruck may cause to other drivers.
At the Santana Row Tesla dealership in San Jose, California, a man who ‘made a $100 reservation’ looked at a more modern model of the car.
When Alistair Barr was finally able to get a close-up look at the car, one item in particular stood out.
To be fair, the Cybertruck differs from more conventional autos in a number of ways, including the inclusion of a crumple zone.
However, the car’s sheer size was what made it stand out the most.
Prototype models were used to update the design, which included making it marginally smaller.
Even yet, the Cybertruck’s length surpasses that of the Ford F-150, which is an enormous vehicle in and of itself.
The Cybertruck’s high-spec model, dubbed the “Cyberbeast,” weighs about three and a half tons at the kerb.
This is paired with a 112 mph maximum speed and a body composed of durable stainless steel paneling, which also contributes to the truck’s unique angular appearance.
That automobile is enormous and incredibly hefty.
Additionally, the most affordable model starts at an astounding $60,000.
Car safety experts have also expressed worries about the Cybertruck’s construction quality due to its design.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) former president, Adrian Lund, called attention to the stainless steel, saying, “The big problem there is if they really make the skin of the vehicle very stiff by using thick stainless steel, then when people hit their heads on it, it’s going to cause more damage to them.”
He wasn’t alone, as the European Transport Safety Council, a nonprofit, voiced worries about the Cybertruck’s dimensions.
“We hope Tesla don’t bring this vehicle to Europe,” they stated in a statement. In an accident, a car with this much size, strength, and weight will kill both bicycles and pedestrians.”
However, opinions on the Cybertruck are still divided; some find the design to be fantastic, while others find it to be unappealing.
