Matthew Perry, The Actor From Friends, Died At The Age Of 54

According to TMZ, Matthew Perry passed away at the age of 54.

The actor, well known for his role in the sitcom Friends, was reportedly discovered dead in a hot tub at a Los Angeles house by authorities. According to police authorities, there is no evidence of wrongdoing.

As investigations continue, no official cause of death has been determined.

Perry rose to international prominence as Chandler Bing in Friends, endearing himself to millions with snarky remarks and smart quips. From the 1990s onward, he became a significant part of mainstream culture, and the sitcom’s ongoing popularity shows no signs of abating three decades after it first aired.

He’d been outspoken about his lifetime struggle with alcohol and opioid addiction, most notably in his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, which was published last year.

His struggles resulted in several periods in treatment as well as major health issues. He performed a series of interviews to promote his book in which he openly opened up about his challenges, becoming tearful at times as he went into genuine detail.

Despite being best known for Friends, he began his career as a kid actor, appearing in Beverly Hills 90210 and co-starring in the 1988 film A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon with River Phoenix.

He also appeared on The West Wing, Scrubs, Ally McBeal, Boys Will Be Boys, Growing Pains, and more television shows.

Perry has built a name for herself in a number of comedies, including Fools Rush In, The Whole Nine Yards, and 17 Again.

However, he has slowed down in recent years, with his final acting appearance being in a TV mini-series in 2017.

The actor reunited with his Friends co-stars David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow in 2021 to record a reunion episode in which they all commented on their experience on the show.

Perry had surprised them when he admitted how much pressure he felt from being hilarious on the program. He went on to say: “At least to me, I felt like I was going to die if they didn’t laugh.”

“It’s not healthy, for sure, but I’d say a line and they wouldn’t laugh, and I’d sweat and just go into convulsions if I didn’t get the laugh I was supposed to get,” he continued. “I’d freak out.”

“You didn’t tell us that,” Lisa Kudrow, one of the actor’s former coworkers, remarked.
