Wilt Chamberlain, An NBA Legend, Claimed To Have Slept With Over 20,000 Women

Wilt Chamberlain was a legend not only on the basketball court, but also in the bedroom.

Chamberlain rose to prominence in the NBA after making his debut for the Philadelphia Warriors in 1959.

He later joined the Philadelphia 76ers before joining his third and last squad, the Los Angeles Lakers.

At the age of 36, he retired from the sport in 1973.

Chamberlain published a book in the years that followed, in 1991. A View From Above was the title.

In the book, published in the basketball legend’s own words, he described every aspect of his life, including his sex life.

“Yes, that’s correct, twenty thousand different ladies,” he wrote.

“At my age, that equals out to having sex with 1.2 women a day, every day since I was fifteen years old.”

Chamberlain, who died in 1999 at the age of 63, received criticism for his audacious remark, especially from late tennis legend Arthur Ashe.

The Grand Slam champion wrote in his autobiography Days of Grace that he pitied Chamberlain.

“I felt more pity than sorrow for Wilt as his macho accounting backfired on him in the form of a wave of public criticism,” Ashe stated in the letter.

He also chastised Magic Johnson for being upfront about his sexual exploits.

“African Americans have spent decades denying that we are sexual primitives by nature, as racists have argued since the days of slavery,” Ashe continued.

“These two college-trained Black men of international fame and immense personal wealth do their best to reinforce the stereotype.”

Chamberlain, on the other hand, was continually defending his promiscuity.

“I’m not bragging… “I don’t see this as any kind of conquest,” he said in his book.

“All I’m saying is that I like women, people are curious about my sex life, and to most people, the number of women who have come and gone through my bedrooms – and various hotel rooms around the country – would boggle the mind.”

Chamberlain claimed it was ‘natural,’ adding, “I was just doing what was natural – chasing good-looking ladies, whoever they were and wherever they were.”

If the late sportsman’s claims are true, Chamberlain will have slept with about 500 women every year, giving Australia’s’most sexually active woman,’ Annie Knight, a run for her money.
