The Security Guard Who Went Viral After Singing At A Taylor Swift Concert Was Just Fired

The security officer who gained notoriety for singing along during a Taylor Swift concert apparently lost his job as a result of the incident.

Calvin Denker, the security officer who gained internet fame after video of him singing along at a recent Taylor Swift “Eras” concert surfaced online, was apparently fired as a result of the incident. Denker is seen singing along to Swift’s performance in Minneapolis while working as a security guard in the tape, which initially surfaced in June.

Swift’s 2019 song “Cruel Summer,” which Denker is singing along to in the video, quickly gained popularity on social media. However, the former security officer has now disclosed that he was fired soon after the concert.

Denker claims in a TikTok update that he applied for a position with BEST Security in the hopes of getting to work at one of Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour gigs.

When Denker handed out notes to audience members during Swift’s Minnesota performance, requesting them to take a photo of him while the singer was standing onstage in the backdrop, the company seemed to have no problem with his singing along to the music. That request apparently went against BEST policies prohibiting staff from taking photos or recordings while on duty.

Denker, however, argues that this isn’t true, saying, “I never took my own phone out, and above all else, I made sure that Taylor Swift was safe, and all the fans had a good time.” However, it is logical to assume that a security firm like BEST will not let staff to request images or films while on the job.
Denker also claims that on August 12, he was sacked from Ed Sheeran’s Bank Stadium performance, but “the HR woman who called me wasn’t able to articulate what exactly I did wrong.” He does, however, acknowledge that he was once more requesting images from concertgoers.

Denker reports that despite his offer to give up his TikTok account in exchange for his job back, the business has not yet responded to him. He urged supporters not to throw “hate” their way because of the situation and concluded his article by saying he had “no grudges” against the corporation for terminating his employment.

Strangely, this is the second time a security guard at a Taylor Swift concert on her “Eras” tour has gone viral. Video of security officer Davis Perrigo singing along to Taylor Swift’s song “Style” at a concert in Nashville in May went viral, but Perrigo claims he was just “reprimanded by Taylor’s security” for “going too hard; I needed to take it down a notch.” Perrigo acknowledged that he took up security guarding in order to attend one of her concerts in Nashville.

On October 27, 2023, the ninth anniversary of the original 2014 album, Taylor Swift’s “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” will be released. Taylor Swift recently finished the first leg of her US tour.
