Three of Lizzo’s former backup dancers are suing the “Good As Hell” singer, Big Grrrl Big Touring, and dance captain Shirlene Quigley for allegedly fostering a “hostile work environment,” according to a lawsuit filed in August 2023.

Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez claimed they were exposed to weight-shaming and sexually derogatory behavior, as well as pressure to participate in unsettling sex displays, while working for Lizzo.

The trio accused the Grammy winner of inviting them “to take turns touching nude performers” at an Amsterdam strip club and encouraging them to catch “dildos launched” from the performers’ vaginas.

The plaintiffs also alleged that Lizzo duped them one month later when she took them to another naked exhibition, “robbing them of the choice not to participate,” according to the filings.

The women are suing for general and particular damages, as well as punitive damages and legal fees.

“The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers appears to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight shames and demeans her dancers in ways that are… absolutely demoralizing,” said plaintiffs’ attorney Ron Zambrano in a statement.

Lizzo has not publicly addressed the complaint, and her representatives did not respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Davis, Arianna

“Dance is something that you have to do when you don’t have words to express yourself,” the Full Sail University student told the site in April.

“You can’t act it out if you can’t sing it, say it, or act it out.” “You can’t do anything but move to express yourself,” she continued.

“When I have no words, I just dance.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Davis began posting dance videos on TikTok, which drew Lizzo’s attention.

She later appeared in the singer’s reality show, “Watch Out For The Big Grrrls,” which chronicled her quest for backup dancers to accompany her on tour.

In 2022, the series received an Emmy for Outstanding Competition Program, and Davis attended the ceremony with her “role model” Lizzo.

“In real life, she is the same person she is on social media and in the media.” “She is a genuine, kind-hearted person, and I enjoy working with her,” she previously told IndyStar.

“I just really want to be a trailblazer and spread joy because I feel like there isn’t enough in the industry,” Davis said of her professional ambitions.

“There aren’t enough resources in the world.” And to be nice to everyone. I feel like if I can reflect that in my daily life, maybe I can represent it for other people.”

Davis and the “Juice” hitmaker also performed at the 2023 Brit Awards.

Davis stated in the lawsuit that Lizzo “pressured” and “goaded” her into caressing one nude performer’s breasts while visiting a sex club in Amsterdam in February 2023.

In the suit, she claimed she had no choice but to “soil herself” on stage during a “excruciating” re-audition for the legendary dance company because she was “fearing the repercussions” of excused herself to use the restroom.

The “Truth Hurts” singer allegedly dismissed Davis “on the spot” after discovering she had utilized a recording device during one of their meetings to collect “a copy of the notes” provided by the artist.

Noelle Rodriguez

The dancer, who had previously starred in an SKIMS advertisement and danced in the inaugural season of “Euphoria,” quit Lizzo’s tour shortly after Davis was fired.

The suit stated that she was standing in solidarity with her colleague dancer because of the alleged “disrespect” Lizzo showed her.

According to the documents, she “feared that Lizzo intended to hit her and would have done so if one of the other dancers had not intervened.”

She performed with Beyoncé at Coachella in 2018 and with Janet Jackson for her Billboard Music Awards Icon performance the same year before joining the “Boys” chart-topper’s tour.

In May 2023, she posted a mysterious Instagram message with a quote from Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

‘If they want to make a fool of me, I’ll gladly be one. We hope to be an example of dedication, courage, and perseverance in the face of adversity. “I also hope to be an example of not tolerating nonsense,” the politician said in his quote.

“It brings me peace to be at a point in my career where I can say NO to disrespect,” Rodriguez continued. I’m not afraid to walk away from situations that don’t benefit me and, more significantly, don’t deserve me.”

“My talent, character, and reputation speak volumes on their own,” she continued. Know your worth and never be scared to speak out. Stand up for what is right, no matter who is doing wrong.

Crystal Williams

Williams is a Texas native who starred on Lizzo’s reality show “Watch Out For The Big Grrrls.”

She graduated with a degree in mass communication from Sam Houston State University in 2020, just before seeing a casting call for the singer’s show.

“I thought that might be a sign. “I did my video submission and everything, and I put together a little montage video,” she told her institution in a February 2023 interview.

“My mass communications degree really stood out with that one because it was a nice audition video, and I had two different slides going while I was talking about myself.”

Williams was cast in the Emmy-winning TV show and began dancing for the pop artist right away, rather than going through the show’s audition procedure.

“It’s really fun to travel to different places in other parts of the world because I was only restricted to seeing Texas,” Williams said.

“I’m just glad to be experiencing this because I had no idea this was a thing for people like me, so it’s definitely a blessing.”

In a social media statement in May 2023, she stated she was no longer touring with Lizzo.

“This door may have been closed, but other doors are already opening, and I am so excited to embark on this new journey that I’m being led to,” she wrote at the time.

“Some of the experiences I’ve had along the way have been eye-opening yet rewarding.”
