Lil Baby Abruptly Cancels A Number Of Tour Dates With No Explanation

With Lil Baby’s highly anticipated It’s Only Us tour set to begin next week, several dates have been abruptly canceled, with fans suspecting low ticket sales.

It’s Only Us, Lil Baby’s highly anticipated tour, is set to kick off next week in Houston, Texas, with a lineup of supporting bands including GloRilla, The Kid LAROI, Rylo Rodriguez, Gloss Up, and Hunxho. However, other dates are abruptly canceled with no explanation.

So far, gigs in Phoenix, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Denver, Indianapolis, Louisville, and Pittsburgh have been canceled within the last week, with impacted ticketholders receiving refunds without having to do anything.

Though no explanation for the cancellations has been provided, many fans have theorized that low ticket sales were the primary cause. Some fans felt that Lil Baby required a larger fan base to schedule an arena tour, resulting in a supply that significantly surpassed demand.

A screenshot depicting an excess of seats going for expensive rates began making the rounds on Twitter, sparking a discussion over musical ticket accessibility. According to studies, ticket costs roughly doubled between 1996 and 2019, with the average cheapest ticket price for a music-related concert still hovering at $100.

This isn’t the first time Lil Baby’s success in the arena has been questioned. When Lil Baby went on tour with Lil Durk in 2021, Akademiks questioned the viability of a Lil Baby arena tour on the Flagrant 2 podcast.

“Lil Baby is attempting to do arenas of 10,000 to 15,000 people,” Akademiks explained. “They said his tour isn’t going well. He’ll never mention that his tour is sold out; they say it’s not selling well.”

Despite the recent cancellations, that tour was financially successful, grossing more than $15 million in ticket sales over 26 gigs – and Lil Baby’s current tour still has a slew of dates open.
