Hugh Grant Is In Talks For An A24 Thriller Based On 'A Quiet Place.' Scott Beck And Bryan Woods Are The Authors

Hugh Grant is in talks to feature in the new film from A Quiet Place creators Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, which is being backed by A24.

The film, named Heretic, was written and will be directed by Beck and Woods. The storyline details are being kept under wraps, but insiders indicate the premise revolves around two missionaries who attempt to convert a dangerous man.

The A24 project is aiming for a July start date, but like with any picture shooting this summer, production could be hampered by a probable SAG-AFTRA strike. Members overwhelmingly voted earlier this week to authorize a possible strike if a new contract is not signed by the June 30 deadline.

The New York-based indie studio has had success with the horror-thriller genre, including Ari Aster’s Hereditary and Midsommar and Ti West and Mia Goth’s X films, which feature the upcoming threequel Maxxine. A24 acquired the popular Sundance supernatural horror picture Talk to Me in a competitive environment earlier this year.

Beck and Woods made their name writing A Quiet Place and have since moved on to directing projects such as the 2019 thriller Haunt and Sony’s sci-fi film 65, starring Adam Driver. They were most recently in theaters with the horror film The Boogeyman, which they wrote. The duo is represented by CAA, Anonymous Content, and Manatt, Phelps & Phillips.

Grant, who is repped by CAA, was most recently seen in the Paramount film Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Upcoming projects include the HBO drama The Regime, co-starring Kate Winslet and Andrea Riseborough, and the Jerry Seinfeld-directed Pop-Tarts film Unfrosted.
