The cast of ‘The Surfer’ will be led by Nicolas Cage.
The 59-year-old actor has been cast in director Lorcan Finnegan’s psychological thriller.
‘The Surfer’ is the story of a man (Cage) who returns to his coastal hometown in Australia after living a successful life in the United States.
A local surfing gang humiliates him in front of his teenage son by claiming control of the lonely beach where he spent his childhood.
Despite his injuries, ‘The Surfer’ decides to stay on the beach and vows war on those who govern the water. However, the confrontation escalates, pushing ‘The Surfer’ to the brink of insanity.
The script was written by Thomas Martin, and main photography is set to commence in Australia this September.
Mossbank is in charge of worldwide sales for the production and will present ‘The Surfer’ to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival.

“We’re incredibly excited to be working with Lorcan, Thomas, Arenamedia, and Tea Shop on such a visceral and unique thriller,” said Sam Hall of the company.
“Nicolas Cage is the ideal actor for this iconic role, and he will undoubtedly deliver a tour de force performance that will be something very special and captivate audiences worldwide.”
In the latest film ‘Renfield,’ the ‘Moonstruck’ star played the vampire Count Dracula and revealed that he accidentally swallowed his own blood while biting his lip with his sharp ceramic fangs.
Cage said in an Ask-Me-Anything session on Reddit: “No reason in terms of method, but the fangs were genuine fangs, they were ceramic and quite pointy.” So I bit my lip a few times, causing me to drink my own blood.”
