Nicolas Cage Is Set To Reprise His Role In The Upcoming Film Lords Of War

Nicolas Cage has been cast as the lead actor in the upcoming film ‘Lords of War’.

The sequel to the 2005 film ‘Lord of War’ will feature the return of the 59-year-old actor in his role as gunrunner Yuri Orlov.

Andrew Niccol, who directed the original, will once again take the helm. Additionally, Bill Skarsgard is set to appear as Orlov’s son.

The plot of ‘Lords of War’ revolves around Yuri Orlov, who is widely known as the most infamous gunrunner in the world. In the movie, Yuri learns that he has a son named Anton. However, instead of trying to correct his father’s mistakes, Anton aspires to surpass his father’s criminal activities.

The film narrates the story of a father and son who have a bitter rivalry, while Anton is gathering a mercenary army to participate in America’s Middle East conflicts.

FilmNation Entertainment is set to introduce the project for sale at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.

Phillippe Rousselet and Fabrice Gianfermi are producing a film under their Vendome Pictures banner, with Cage producing under his Saturn Films banner. The film, which is set to begin production this autumn, has Skarsgard serving as an executive producer.

In a statement, Niccol expressed that there are many unexplored aspects of these characters that are worth delving into. Plato’s quote, “Only the dead have seen the end of war,” is a poignant reminder of the devastating and perpetual nature of conflict.

I am excited to spend more time with Yuri Orlov, who has a captivating personality, and his illegitimate son, who is not legitimate in any sense.

Rousselet stated that there are numerous possibilities for stories in the “Lord of War” world, and they are thrilled to share another one that continues the perilous journey of Yuri and Anton.
