Jerry Springer passed away at the age of 79. A family representative told TMZ that Springer had a “brief illness” that caused his death.
According to a source who spoke to TMZ, the disease, which had only recently been identified, took a turn this week and caused his death. Springer passed away in his house near Chicago.
With 27 years of presenting the outrageous The Jerry Springer Show, Springer is a television legend. He would later go on to become a reality TV star and TV judge. Prior to his time on television, Springer ran unsuccessfully for Congress in the 1970s while serving as mayor of Cincinnati in 1977.
He was survived by his daughter Katie and sister Evelyn.
