The parallel sidebar has announced that Quentin Tarantino will attend Cannes Directors’ Fortnight as a guest of honor on May 25 for a unique event that will include a secret screening and a conversation on his counter-history of film.
The conversation will be based on Quentin Tarantino’s most recent book, Cinema Speculation, which examines significant American movies from the 1970s and was released in November.
“The Directors’ Fortnight, a counter-programming of independent films from all around the world, was established in 1969 in Cannes. A new generation of filmmakers rebelled against old Hollywood in California in 1969, according to a statement from the Cannes parallel sidebar.

“Quentin Tarantino just published an engrossing study of this in a critical article on cinema from the 1970s. Tarantino is a welcome guest at the Fortnight as a distinguished and kind-hearted film enthusiast. He will be our guest this year to give a sneak preview and talk about his alternative cinematic past. On closing day, there is a rockabilly mood.
When he last attended the festival in 2019 with Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Tarantino had six of his movies in the Official Selection.

The Sweet East by Sean Price Williams, The Feeling That The Time For Doing Something Has Passed by Joanna Arnow, and Riddle of Fire by Weston Razooli are the three US independent films that have been chosen.
