Although Shaquille O’Neal is undoubtedly one of the most well-known athletes, the great athlete claims he gave up the celebrity tag decades ago.
O’Neal, 51, claimed that he gave up becoming a celebrity thirty years ago because so many of them are a–holes.
According to the NBA on TNT expert, famous people are “obnoxious” and frequently “rude to people.”
“I don’t want to fall under that umbrella. Before you label me a star and lump me in with those jerk-offs, I’d want to be just another average guy, he says.
Regarding the people he works with, O’Neal shares the same sentiments. I just like working with people, so I don’t like working with celebs because they’re insane, he claims.
The NBA veteran is very complimentary of internet sensation Bad Luck Brian, who co-stars with him in the most current advertisement for The General Insurance. After a 2012 Reddit viral yearbook photo of Brian went viral, Brian became an internet sensation.
The General announced last month that it would take over as the NBA G League’s official insurance sponsor, where O’Neal’s son Shareef competes.
The General and the G League are collaborating by releasing a docuseries called “The Break presented by The General,” which will feature stories and characters from all throughout the G League and provide a behind-the-scenes look at players’ journeys to the NBA.
O’Neal says, “I wanted to be able to be able to give these kids the extra eyes that they deserve.”
