A new song featuring the sons of three Beatles members.

Zak Starkey, the son of Sir Ringo Starr, James McCartney, the son of Sir Paul McCartney, and Sean Ono Lennon, the son of the late John Lennon, collaborated on the song “Rip Off” by Mantra Of The Cosmos.

It’s not the first time the sons of the renowned Liverpool band have worked together; Sean and James previously collaborated on the song Primrose Hill in 2024.

Zak has maintained that his supergroup, which also consists of former Oasis bassist Andy Bell and Happy Mondays members Shaun Ryder and Bez, does not sound anything like the Fab Four.

“No, it’s not,” he recently told The Telegraph.

“With them in it, it resembles the Mantra of the Cosmos. I’m still in the band with Sean and James of the Cosmos.

Zak previously denied rumors on social media that he and Sean were starting a band together after a photo of the two started the rumor mill.

“It might have chemistry if we had slept on flea-infested mattresses in the back room of a Hamburg club for three years,” he wrote.

“But we’ve been wrapped up in silken robes in homes so large that it’s impossible to eat a piece of toast—see?”

The group’s most recent song follows the release of “Domino Bones (Get Dangerous)” with Noel Gallagher.

In his interview with The Telegraph, Zak also emphasized that he is not as rich as the other Beatles offspring.

The 59-year-old drummer is the oldest of Ringo’s three children with the late hairstylist Maureen Cox. He insists that he does not share the Beatles’ other children’s fortune because they inherited it from their parents, whereas Zak’s mother passed away in 1994 with little money.

“[The others have] tons of money because their dads are dead,” he told the newspaper. Linda McCartney, James’ mother, passed away. gave him a large sum of money.

“[But] my mum died skint with a whole desk-full of brown envelopes that she never opened because she spent all her money on her friends.”

In addition to his financial difficulties, Zak, who recently lost his drummer gig with The Who, said, “And now I haven’t got a job.”

Zak’s departure was attributed to disagreements over his performance at a gig at the Royal Albert Hall in London in April, but he believes it was the result of tensions that have plagued the band for years. The sticksman was fired by the band earlier this year, then welcomed back before being fired again.

Because he didn’t want to argue with frontman Sir Roger Daltrey, Zak says Pete Townshend of The Who agreed to the decision to split up with the drummer for a second time.

“What happened was that I got it right and Roger [Daltrey] got it wrong,” he told the publication. I didn’t notice any dropped beats during the show. Then, since Pete and Roger had been at odds for 60 years, Pete had to agree.

“I place no responsibility on anyone. Because The Who are erratic, violent, and f crazy, I hold them accountable.

He continued by disclosing that he has not received a response to his letter asking music icon Bob Dylan whether he needs a drummer.

Zak’s time as a drummer with The Who may not be permanent, though.

“Don’t take your drums out of [The Who’s] warehouse yet in case we need you,” he urged when he spoke with Roger last week. “Best let me know,” I said.
