Former “American Idol” contestant Doug Kiker, also referred to as “The Singing Garbage Man,” passed away.

Valerie Cook, Kiker’s ex-fiance, tells TMZ that she is saddened that her children lost their father. Kiker passed away on Monday. The reason of death has not been officially established.

In addition to confirming Doug’s passing to TMZ, Kiker’s mother Joyce and brother William also posted an emotional note on Facebook stating that Doug will always be his baby bro.

A GoFundMe page was created by the singer’s sister, Angela Evans, acknowledging the singer’s death. She stated that the family needed assistance because “this was completely unexpected we are completely unprepared and are gonna need a little help getting him home from Denver, Colorado, and being able to give the memorial that not only he but anyone deserves.”

In case you forgot, during Season 18 of the program, Kiker made Katy Perry cry when he performed Rascal Flatts’ “Bless the Broken Road,” which led to his advancement to the Hollywood round.

After performing Marvin Gaye’s “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” he was eliminated in the subsequent round.
