According to Deadline, Courteney Cox has agreed to reprise her role in Scream 7, the latest film in Spyglass Media Group and Paramount’s venerable satirical horror series.

In every Scream movie to date, Cox returns as Gale Weathers, the shrewd and driven news reporter-turned-author who has frequently been at the heart of the Ghostface killings. Neve Campbell as scream queen Sidney Prescott and Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin, another Ghostface survivor, are both making a comeback. Sidney’s daughter will be played by newcomer Isabel May, while Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp will also play new, unspecified roles.

The new movie’s plot is being kept a secret. Following the success of Scream VI, which had a franchise-high domestic gross of over $108 million in March 2023, Scream 7 is scheduled to open in theaters globally on February 27, 2026. Together, the series’ films have brought in over $900 million at the global box office.

Guy Busick’s script will serve as the basis for the directing by Kevin Williamson, the creator of the Scream franchise and the man behind the first Wes Craven movie. James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein, who will produce for Project X Entertainment, are also on board after working with the scribe on Scream VI and the 2022 revival.

In addition, Cox most recently starred opposite Greg Kinnear in the two-season series Shining Vale on Starz. Variety was the first to report about her Scream 7 agreement.
