Following fans’ concerns over viral videos of him at recent gigs, Frankie Valli released a statement.

The iconic Four Seasons frontman, who turned 90 this year, was seen lip-syncing and having trouble keeping up with the music in footage from his latest shows.

Over the weekend, a number of videos went viral on social media, with many people expressing concern for his well-being.

“I cherish Frankie Valli… but this isn’t right,” said one, while another described it as “a painful watch.”

The singer of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” has now responded to rumors regarding his well-being.

“I wanted to clear the air because I know there has been a lot of stuff online about me lately,” he said in a statement sent on Monday, September 30, to People magazine. “I am fortunate to be 90 years old and still be doing what I love. I will continue to perform as I always have for as long as I am able and people want to see me. I genuinely enjoy what I do. And because our supporters continue to show up in large numbers and the show is still amazing, I know we put on a fantastic show.

He went on, “How do we execute the show? Vocal and instrument layering has always been a key component of the Four Seasons sound. To sound like the recordings, we draw on our sixty years of combined experience. I sing, singers I have with me perform, excellent arrangements… The comments make me laugh, as I wonder if someone is pressuring me to perform live. I have never been forced to do anything I don’t want to do by anyone.

“I plan to be doing shows as long as I can, delivering that great Four Seasons sound,” the “Grease” singer said in closing. I relate to the TV rabbit that never stops going, precisely like the line from Jersey Boys. following the melody.

The seasoned performer has already been accused of lip-syncing. The Minnesota Star Tribune said in 2017 that he “barely moved his lips” during a performance at the Minnesota State Fair, and that “he rarely looked as if he was taking the kind of deep breaths required to sing with palpable passion.” And after every song, he never appeared to get even somewhat tired.

He also made news earlier this year when additional worries were raised by another video showing him seemed to struggle with performance.

Claims that the singer was experiencing health issues were refuted by a spokesperson for Valli in August, telling the New York Post that the singer was “doing just fine” and was “super happy to still be performing.” Great music is being played, drawing large audiences into the venues. At ninety, Frankie is still doing what he loves. Everybody should be so fortunate.

Valli is now on the road and has several shows scheduled in the United States for the remainder of 2024 and early 2025.
