Jay-Z and Roc Nation are among many contenders vying for a lucrative Times Square casino license.

Now the music tycoon appears to be sweetening the deal by offering a $250 million grant for Hell’s Kitchen if he is chosen. Here’s the most recent updates.

New York City was just granted a casino license, and Jay-Z jumped at the opportunity to present his argument. The mogul set forth his case for why Roc Nation should be granted the license in an Instagram post titled “It’s Time, Times Square”. “Some conflicted parties have attempted to spread misinformation, so we wanted to speak to you, New York City, directly.”

“The winning group must have a track record of putting words into action—of prioritizing New York City and its residents—people of all colors, religions, nationalities, genders, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are all New Yorkers, from every borough. The winning group must have a track record of advocating for equitable hiring, representation, and reform. Hatred and oppressive groups have no place in New York.”

“The winning licensee must always prioritize the well-being of New Yorkers and do right by their residents. This is an extremely critical event in our city’s history. Times Square, the center of entertainment with palpable energy, is unparalleled. “Our proposal lays out an innovative plan that will not only draw additional tourists to our city but will also enhance the lives of everyday New Yorkers.”

Jay-Z claims that his proposal for the Times Square casino benefits surrounding businesses, improves mass transit, invests in sanitation and security from the bowtie to Hell’s Kitchen, develops and delivers a much-needed transportation plan, protects the interests of the actors, producers, theatre staff, writers, and patrons who represent the true heart and soul of Broadway, and provides opportunity for all.

“Our offer pledges $115 million to a variety of theater activities, including daycare for Broadway employees and their families. Our proposal recognizes the city of dreams, New York City, and the people who have transformed it into the world’s cultural and entertainment center.”

Now According to Page Six, Roc Nation will pledge more than $250 million in grant money to Hell’s Kitchen if it wins the bid to build a Caesars Palace Times Square casino. The plan calls for the consortium to give a $15 million gift to the local community, as well as regular payouts based on 0.5% of the casino’s success. According to Roc Nation, its bid has received support from over 150 groups and businesses, including restaurants, hotels, residents, unions, and Broadway stakeholders.
