Diddy was arrested earlier this week and charged with a variety of counts.
According to TMZ, he is charged with “racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution.” He appeared in court today, having pleaded not guilty to all allegations. His bid for bail was denied for the second time. Of course, the Bad Boy Records founder’s legal troubles have provoked reactions from a number of social media followers and peers.
50 Cent has been one of Diddy’s most ardent detractors since the beginning. He also pitched a docuseries on himself to Netflix earlier this year, with the preliminary title Diddy Do It. For the time being, it’s unknown when that will be disclosed, but it appears that he has been outdone. Today, Investigation Discovery and Maxine Productions announced their own Diddy docuseries, set to premiere in 2025.
“Through access to archival footage and in-depth reporting from Rolling Stone, along with harrowing testimony from survivors as well as friends and colleagues who knew and worked with [Diddy] before his stardom, the multipart docuseries will offer insight into unfolding allegations against the once untouchable superstar,” the film’s creators said. “It will also highlight the toxic power dynamic that played out within the industry and kept many survivors silenced — until now.”
While ID and Maxine Productions’ documentary may arrive sooner than 50 Cent’s, he looked confident in his capacity to do what no one else can during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year. “I’m the only one from Hip-Hop culture that’s produced quality projects,” he told me.
