Miley Cyrus is being sued for copyright infringement on her 2023 hit single ‘Flowers’.
According to TMZ, the 31-year-old pop musician has been accused of stealing the melody, harmony, and chorus from Bruno Mars’ 2012 hit ‘When I Was Your Man’ by Tempo Music Investments, which claims a share in the latter song.
The words are a paraphrase of Bruno’s song, but because the themes were so close, he was not acknowledged as a co-writer on ‘Flowers’.
Miley’s chorus reads, “I can buy myself flowers.”

“Write my name in the sand.”
“I talk to myself for hours.
“Say things you do not comprehend.
“I can make myself dance.
“I can hold my own hand.
“Yeah, I can love me better than you can.”
Bruno sings on his song, “That I should’ve bought you flowers and held your hand…” Now my baby is dancin’, but she’s with another man.

Miley won numerous honors for the song, including a Grammy for Record of the Year, but Tempo Music Investments claims she would not have gained the recognition without ‘When I Was Your Man’.
The company replied to the publication: “It is undeniable based on the combination and number of similarities between the two recordings that ‘Flowers’ would not exist without ‘When I Was Your Man.'”
The corporation wants more than just money from the former Disney star; it also wants her to stop singing the song.
Bruno, 38, is not involved in the case against Miley.
‘Flowers’ appeared on Miley Cyrus’ album ‘Endless Summer Vacation’.
The chart-topping disco pop song was thought to be a dig at her ex-husband, 34-year-old actor Liam Hemsworth.
Miley commented on the hit’s global success, tweeting at the time: “Celebrating “Flowers” becoming #1 around the world again this week! I’m delighted that this record is connecting in such a great way, and it’s a pleasure to continue making music for you. These achievements would not be achievable without the support of my listeners and followers. I’m endlessly grateful. (sic)”
