Miranda Lambert will receive the Country Icon Award at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards.

The country music performer will receive the prize at this year’s People’s Choice Country Awards on September 26 in Nashville, Tennessee, according to an announcement made Thursday.

According to People, Miranda will receive the prize for creating “an authentic, female-forward brand of country that has shaped the industry.”

The hitmaker is also up for Best Female Artist of 2024 and Best Female Song of 2024 for her new single Wranglers.

The announcement comes nearly two decades after the Little Red Wagon singer released her debut studio album, Kerosene, in 2005.

At the end of July, she announced that her tenth studio album, Postcards from Texas, would be released on September 13.

Miranda described the album as “very country” in a recent People interview, adding that she made it in Texas. I hadn’t made an album in Texas since I was eighteen.”

According to Jen Neal, Executive Vice President, Live Events and Specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment, “A tour de force in country music for more than 20 years, Miranda Lambert’s groundbreaking albums continue to capture the hearts of fans around the world.”

She went on: “We’re so excited to celebrate her career, fierce individualism and innovation in the industry with the Country Icon Award.”

The 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards will be broadcast live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
