Justin Timberlake will have to stay off the road for the foreseeable future after a New York judge suspended his driver’s license during a hearing.

The singer-songwriter, who appeared electronically from Belgium Friday, had his driving privileges temporarily suspended… with the judge citing the fact that he refused a Breathalyzer test when cops stopped him over in June.

It’s unclear how long the suspension will last — most likely until the lawsuit is resolved. It is worth mentioning that this is standard operating procedure in New York; the law authorizes the DMV to suspend a driver’s license for up to a year if they refuse a breathalyzer. So… this was already going to happen.

BTW… Justin’s attorney, Ed Burke Jr., was also reportedly chastised at the hearing, with Justice Carl Irace noting he made “irresponsible” comments when he appeared in court and attempted to have the matter dismissed last month. The judge also threatened Ed with a gag order if he continued yapping. Last week, Ed harshly criticized the judicial process, even suggesting that some type of “fix” was in place from the top down.

Remember… Justin was pulled over after leaving The American Hotel in Sag Harbor after cops say they saw him run a stop sign and zigzag on a residential street.

Cops said they asked Justin to get out of the car and undertake a series of sobriety tests, which Timberlake allegedly failed. Police arrested him on one count of driving while intoxicated.

We received video of Timberlake’s automobile driving on the night in question, albeit it did not appear to swerve much in the CCTV footage.

Timberlake was arrested and freed the next morning, and his attorney has made it obvious that he and his client want to fight this charge to the final end, with Burke Jr. even alleging Timberlake was not intoxicated when pulled over.

Timberlake’s “The Forget Tomorrow” world tour, which he allegedly mentioned during his detention, is still ongoing, which is why he did not appear in court in person Friday.

We reached out to Timberlake, but have yet to hear back.
