Snoop Dogg has taken on various identities, including rapper, label boss, torchbearer for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and part-time magician.

At least that’s what Simone Biles’ mother, Nellie, said of meeting the Doggystyle emcee in 2010.

When speaking with Today Show host Hoda Kotb and Biles’ family, she disclosed that Snoop and the Biles have a long connection. “Snoop, I’m not sure whether you’re aware, but Simone and you have known each other for a long time. “All right, Nellie?” Kotb teased.

Confused, the Long Beach resident inquired, “How? “How, Nellie?”

When Snoop first interrupted the conversation, she humorously sized him up, and Nellie relayed the anecdote shortly after.

“I remember and will never forget meeting you in Times Square in 2010. And you said—because we asked for a photo—two minutes. “One, two, and you were gone,” remarked the mother of three.

The two laughed it off, but it’s reasonable to presume they finally took a picture together.

Simone damaged her calf during Sunday’s qualifier, but she planned to continue competing. Nellie was admittedly “worried” when the incident occurred, but was reassured on Monday (July 29) when Simone’s sister, Adria, and husband, Jonathan, both contacted to allay her concerns.

When asked about witnessing Simone compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics, she told USA Today, “I’m very proud as a mother to watch her and see her enjoy what she’s doing.” It is different. Every time I see her compete. It all depends on her mental state, and I can tell she’s in a good place and loving it. And you know, it’s great to watch. It’s really lovely to see.”

Her father, Ron, added, “I simply want to see her happy and prosper, and we don’t have any expectations as a family. I’m not placing anything on her; all I want is for her to feel comfortable, confident, and happy when everything is over. Simply observe her in her natural environment. She’s fought so hard to get back, been through so much, and I’m just so delighted to see her in Paris.”
