On Friday, August 9, CBS will debut 13 Days in Ferguson, a special about the events that followed a young Black man being shot by the police in 2014.
Growing up next to Ferguson, Cedric the Entertainer reunites with retired lead task force officer and lifelong friend Capt. Ron Johnson for what CBS describes as “an emotional journey, walking the streets of Ferguson in remembrance of the shocking events that took place there a decade ago” in the special.
“The narrative of Ferguson is the narrative of America,” declared Cedric. It’s crucial that I share this tale with my friend Ron Johnson now that ten years have passed because it has given us a clearer understanding of the lessons discovered, the advancements made, and the path forward. This is Ron’s funeral.

Johnson declared, “I had to accept whatever came, the good and the bad, if I was going to step up to be a leader.” Being a leader is a privilege. People have negative things to say about leadership, and since that person has been given great honor in that role, that person must accept that criticism. Therefore, everything that went along with it was a part of it.
