Snoop Dogg is arguably one of the world’s most popular rappers.
The rapper launched his first song in 1989 and has since gone on to record a succession of singles such as ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’, ‘Sweat’, ‘Gin and Juice’, and ‘Who Am I’.
Snoop has surpassed one billion Spotify streams for his song ‘Young, Wild & Free’, which features Wiz Khalifa and Bruno Mars, adding to his already impressive list of accomplishments.

The song was published in 2011 and reached the top ten in various nations’ music charts, including the United States, France, Australia, New Zealand, and Italy.
Over a decade after its release, Snoop said that he had been informed that it had received a massive one billion listens on the popular music site, so he asked his publisher how much he had earned.
“They just sent me some s**t from Spotify where I got a billion streams,” he explained on the Business Untitled podcast in December.
“When my publisher struck me, I told him to break it down. How much money is that?
“That s**t wasn’t even $45,000.”
His disclosures have sparked many questions, as it is estimated that one billion Spotify streams can reward an artist up to $3 million.
According to reports, the music streaming service pays $.003 for each single stream, although the firm denies this.
According to the Spotify website, the amount paid to an artist is determined by their agreement with their label.
The website goes on to say: “In many cases, royalty payments happen once a month, but exactly when and how much artists and songwriters get paid depends on their agreements with their record label or distributor – or collection societies and publishers in the case of songwriters.”
Spotify continues, “Once we pay rightsholders based on their streamshare, they pay artists and songwriters in accordance with their specific agreements. Spotify has no knowledge of the agreements that artists and composers sign with their labels, publishers, or collecting organizations, therefore we can’t explain why a rightsholder’s payment is a specific sum in a particular month.”

People have expressed amazement with the amount Snoop received in response to his words.
“If Snoop only makes $45,000, everyday artists make almost nothing from Spotify,” someone mused on TikTok.
“Artist gonna go back to selling albums,” another person said.
Others, however, pointed out that, while $45,000 was not as much as he had hoped, it can still go a long way.
Putting things in perspective, one TikToker wrote, “I worked 90 hours last week and it wasn’t even 2000.”
Spotify declined to respond.
