The guy who was found guilty of killing Drew Carey’s ex-fiancee was just given a life sentence, more than three years after she died from a fall.

Gareth Pursehouse was given a life term without the chance of parole on Wednesday. He was found guilty of killing Dr. Amie Harwick by a jury in September, finding him guilty of first-degree murder with a special circumstance allegation.

Prosecutors said he broke into Harwick’s house in February 2020, waited for her to come back, then attacked and threw her off a third-story balcony.

The defense said he did what he did because he couldn’t get over the way they used to be together, which ended years ago. It’s interesting that Harwick had supposedly told friends and family that she was scared about Pursehouse not long before she died.

The defense team for Pursehouse admitted in court that he had broken into Harwick’s house without permission that night, but they said he never meant to kill her, saying Harwick could have climbed over the balcony and fallen on her own since the prosecution hadn’t proven for sure that Pursehouse was the one who threw her off. It was clear that the jury didn’t agree.

TMZ was the first to report it… Soon after Harwick’s death, Pursehouse was caught. Investigators used surveillance video to help them figure out that he was the main suspect.

To talk about Drew, he and Hawick were engaged in 2018 but broke up less than a year later. Still, her death broke his heart, and he went to her wake.
