The star of Macaulay Culkin has emerged.
The 43-year-old actor, who initially came to notice as a boy over 30 years ago for playing the lead character of Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone movies, will soon be honored with the 2,765th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In a press statement, the group revealed that Culkin would be honored on Friday. Natasha Lyonne and Culkin’s Home Alone mother Catherine O’Hara were scheduled to give speeches.
“Macaulay Culkin has been a staple in pop culture for decades,” according to Ana Martinez, a Hollywood Walk of Fame producer. “He has an extensive trajectory of work, but his movie Home Alone is one of the most beloved holiday movies known worldwide,” Martinez continued.
“How appropriate that Catherine O’Hara, who portrayed Macaulay’s mother in the movie, will be speaking at the ceremony and getting back together with her son from the film!” Martinez continued.
Following his big-screen debut in Rocket Gibraltar in 1988, Culkin starred in Uncle Buck and See You in the Morning in 1989 before becoming well-known across the globe for his leading roles in Home Alone (1990) and its follow-up, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (released two years later).
He also played the titular role in Richie Rich (1994), Richard Tyler in The Pagemaster (1994), Henry Evans in The Good Son (1993), and Thomas J. Sennett in My Girl (1991). At the age of eleven, he even hosted Saturday Night Live in 1991.
Following an almost ten-year hiatus from acting, Culkin made a comeback in television appearances and movies, including Party Monster (2003) and Saved! (2004).
Although Culkin hasn’t done much on screen since he started acting again, his performance as Mickey in the Double Feature season of American Horror Story in 2021 was particularly noteworthy.
Culkin supports charities including the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance and Stand Up to Cancer, according to his Instagram bio.
Beyond his career successes, Culkin is a father to two children with his fiancée Brenda Song: a son, Dakota, who is two and a half, and another child, the birth of which Culkin’s brother, Kieran, confirmed in March.
Kieran, who as Fuller McCallister, the cousin of the mischievous protagonist Kevin in the Home Alone movies, talked on how awkward the newfound popularity was for his sibling and their entire family in a previous digital cover article for Esquire.
“Even then, as a child, I remember thinking, That sucks for him,” the 41-year-old Succession actor remarked of his brother’s extravagant attention.
Kieran continued, “Poor f—ing guy,” in his chat with Esquire. “He was little and having to try to accept that level of fame as reality.”
The siblings, along with their younger brother Rory Culkin, have persisted in their acting careers despite the drawbacks of celebrity.
On Friday at 11:30 a.m. PT/2:30 p.m. ET, the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s official website will broadcast live coverage of Culkin’s star ceremony.
