Elon Musk has announced that his artificial intelligence business, XAI, will be live tomorrow for a small group of users.
In July, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced XAI, stating that the model’s purpose is to “understand the true nature of the universe.” Musk also owns X, which was previously known as Twitter. According to XAI’s website, the company is separate from X but “will work closely with X (Twitter), Tesla, and other companies.”
“XAI will release its first AI to a select group tomorrow,” Musk announced today on X. “In some important respects, it is the best that currently exists.”

Companies have been racing to include AI into their products in order to keep up with a burgeoning market since ChatGPT went widespread earlier this year. According to industry experts, the new technologies could have hazardous unintended consequences if not properly regulated, but these worries have been mostly overshadowed by fervent interest in the technology.
According to the startup’s website, Dan Hendrycks, the director of the Center of AI Safety, is advising XAI.
It’s worth mentioning that Musk co-founded OpenAI, the firm powering ChatGPT, in 2015, but stepped down from its board of directors in 2018. Musk most certainly intends for XAI to compete with OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. According to CNBC, Musk reportedly secured thousands of high-powered Nvidia GPU chips earlier this year. These chips are frequently used to create massive language models.
Contributors of XAI have formerly worked at DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla, and the University of Toronto.
