Sergio Brown, a former NFL player, has been detained in Southern California, according to TMZ Sports… over four weeks after his mother was discovered dead in Illinois.

The ex-defensive back was put into a San Diego jail on Tuesday, according to prison records. According to our sources, the arrest arises from an Illinois warrant relating to the death of his mother, Myrtle Brown, in September.

According to CNN, Sergio was recently discovered in Mexico by police and deported when they got aware of the warrant.

He will now be brought to Illinois to face charges in the case.

Brown was seen dancing and partying in Mexico in the days following Myrtle’s death, as we previously reported. He was also seen in a country selfie video ranting over Myrtle’s death and “fake news.”

Meanwhile, authorities in Illinois have been fairly silent on the inquiry into Sergio’s mother’s murder… but officials have stated that the 73-year-old’s death was deemed a homicide when her body was located along a creek with obvious assault injuries.
