Sony and PlayStation have collaborated to provide PlayStation owners with a new method to watch movies. Sony Pictures Core, a renamed version of the Bravia Core software, was introduced today in 23 locations around the world.
According to a PlayStation release, when you sign up for the Sony Pictures Core app on your PS4 or PS5, you’ll receive access to 2,000 movies to buy or rent from your console. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Uncharted, The Equalizer, No Hard Feelings, Bullet Train, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife are among the titles released so far.
Members of PlayStation Plus Premium ($17.99 a month) have access to up to 100 ad-free movies to stream on demand. Looper, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Elysium, and Resident Evil Damnation will be among the first games to be released.

During an exclusive early access period, some Sony Movies will be available for purchase. The Gran Turismo movie, for example, is now available through the Sony Core Pictures app. When you buy the movie, PlayStation says you’ll earn credit for a “in-game purchase of GT7, including cars featured in the movie.”
“This is just the beginning, and we plan to evolve the offerings and benefits of Sony Pictures Core over time – including a selection of hit anime content from Crunchyroll,” said Evan Stern, PlayStation’s senior director of global marketing, in a statement. “We’re looking forward to more exciting things to come.”
