According to Paul McCartney, he appears on a new song on Jimmy Buffett’s impending posthumous album.
Three new Jimmy Buffett tracks, “Bubbles Up,” “Like My Dog,” and “My Gummie Just Kicked In,” were published a little more than a week after his dying on September 1. These were released in advance of the posthumous release of his planned album this November. According to Paul McCartney’s Instagram homage to Buffett, the former Beatle is featured on one of the songs.

“I was thrilled to have contributed to one of his most recent songs, ‘My Gummy (sic) Just Kicked In,'” McCartney adds. He played me a few of his new songs, and we had a great time together. I especially cherished the tune “Bubbles Up.” I informed him that not only was the music excellent, but the vocal performance was arguably the greatest I had ever heard him do.
On “My Gummie Just Kicked In,” McCartney may be heard playing bass, according to the album credits. In addition to previewing “Like My Dog” in his final social media post, a TikTok on August 29, Buffett had the opportunity to hear that song during a farewell interview in July. The second song is a version of a country song that Harley Allen and Scotty Emerick wrote for Billy Currington back in 2010.
“Bubbles Up,” a motivational song in the classic Buffett vein that features scuba diving metaphors and nautical images, is McCartney’s favorite of the new tracks. “Remember that you are loved no matter how far you have to travel; there is light above and joy never runs out.”

In his touching Instagram post, McCartney adds, “He turned a diving phrase that is used to train people underwater into a metaphor for life when you’re confused and don’t know where you are.” “Simply follow the bubbles; they’ll bring you to the surface and help you immediately.”
