Following A 30-Year Rape Sentence, Conan O'Brien Promised Danny Masterson In A Leaked Interview That "You'll Be Caught Soon"

In a now-resurfaced video, Conan O’Brien made light of Danny Masterson’s recent 30 year jail term for rape by joking that he would be “caught soon.”

Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in jail for the assaults of two women 20 years ago. Masterson is best known for portraying the role Steven Hyde on That ’70s Show from 1998 to 2006.

“Mr Masterson, you are not the victim here,” Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo told the 47-year-old actor, who has been detained since May of this year. Another person’s voice and choice were taken away by your actions twenty years ago. You are here because of the criminal conduct you committed 20 years ago today.

The presenter of Late Night With Conan O’Brien humorously cautioned the actor, “you will be caught soon,” in a video that has surfaced from an appearance in 2004.

As the two watch the clip, Masterson explains that he has lived in Los Angeles for approximately ten years, which is why his Long Island accent “just goes away naturally,” adding that “there are also certain words that there’s nothing you can do about.”

In an attempt to mimic Bodhi Elfman’s imitation of his accent, Masterson claimed that Elfman “always teases” him about it.

He introduces himself as Danny Masterson and asks if you’d want to touch his balls. Masterson spoke the word “balls” with a thick Long Island accent.

“So why are you asking people to do that?” inquired O’Brien. The question that matters more is the one.

“You know what I mean, you got them? Everyone ought to grab,” answered Masterson.

The actor was subsequently informed by O’Brien, “I’ve heard about you. And you will undoubtedly be apprehended shortly.

Then, Masterson said, “I will.”

Since Masterson’s sentencing this week, the video has been viewed millions of times.

Prosecutors retried Masterson on all three charges earlier this year after an initial jury in December failed to reach a conviction on three counts of rape and a mistrial was declared.

After seven days of discussion, a jury consisting of five men and seven women convicted Masterson guilty on two charges on May 31. At the height of his stardom in 2003, Masterson’s home in the Hollywood region was the scene of both attacks.
