The Rolling Stones will release “Hackney Diamonds,” their first album of original material in 18 years, on September 6 during an event in East London’s Hackney neighborhood.
“The Tonight Show” presenter and comedian Jimmy Fallon will conduct live interviews with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood. At 6:30 a.m. PST/ 9:30 a.m. EST, the event will be presented and livestreamed exclusively on YouTube.
“Hackney may be at the heart of Hackney Diamonds, but this is a truly global moment that we want to share with fans around the world via YouTube,” the Stones said.

The band’s revelation of “Hackney Diamonds” comes after a cryptic marketing campaign in which the band placed a phony advertisement in a local Hackney newspaper and projected the band’s trademark mouth and tongue logo onto the side of monuments in cities around the world, including London, New York, and Paris.
The band’s first album of original material since 2005’s “A Bigger Bang,” the new album will also be their first release following drummer Charlie Watts’ death in 2021. Watts, a founding member of the band, is noted for having played in all but one of the band’s hundreds of gigs and practically every recorded song from the group’s beginning in 1962. The Rolling Stones toured with drummer Steve Jordan last year.
For years, the Stones have been working on new music, with at least one upcoming tune rumored to involve former Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. In 2016, the band took a break from working on new material to record an album of blues standards.

Even as the members of the band approach the age of 80, they maintain an unrivaled ability to play, with Mick Jagger retaining virtually his whole vocal range and, most importantly, his energy. On July 26, Jagger turned 80.
